The Gem Collection

Brief: Propose designs for products that begin with a flat material, for end outcomes that transform the flat or 2D to the 3D. Produce a highly finished prototype. Research and understand suitable flat materials and processes.

I chose acrylic as the flat material. After lots of experimenting through gluing, melting and laser cutting, I decided to create a collection of pendant lamps, candle holders and a fruit bowl. I used the heat forming process to create these products and made various sized moulds to heat form the acrylic into the desired size and shapes.
